About Me
Who I am
I am a self taught, Fine Art Artist , born in Somerset. I grew up in the countryside in Dorset. In my teens we moved to a larger town . In that respect , I had the best of both worlds . I have spent my life as a driver, in one form or another. I’m now trying to start another career using my passion for painting.
I have always enjoyed drawing and painting, plus anything creative. I’ve also enjoyed a career on the road but that’s becoming a dangerous place to be, with more and more traffic using them.
In recent years I have taken up painting again, enjoying it more than ever. I am very much settled now with a wife and family who have become my life.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of my paintings is the research time spent. It’s surprising what you learn. When I’m trying to capture a moment in history, such as the painting ‘Destiny Calling ‘. I researched the weather, wind direction, sea conditions, the ships themselves, after refits, weapons and decks changing, as I wanted to get it all as accurate as I could. I do this kind of research with most of my paintings. Its time consuming and sometimes costly, though very rewarding in the process. I just hope the fruits of my labour show in my work, you decide.
Aside from painting my own choice of subject, I also take commissions to paint other subjects, involving the same amount of commitment. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss a painting you would like.
